PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Preperation Section
In order to extract oil from oilseeds particularly Soybean,
the preparation of oil seeds plays a very crucial role. It
not only effects efficiency of extraction but also the quality
of oil extracted.
The seed preparation plant consists of seed cleaner, seed
destoner, seed cracker, cooker-conditioner, flaker and cooler.
The SOYBEAN seed is received at inlet of EL-1 and feed to
vibrating screen Seed cleaner SC-1, where in minor impurities
like straws, strings etc are removed. The cleaned seed is
stored in bin B-1. It then passes through a rotary magnet
RM to remove metal/ferrous impurities. and fed to Destoner
DS-1 to remove stones, impurities etc.,
The cleaned and destoned SOYBEAN is transferred via a Screw
conveyor item SC-1 to elevator EL-2.
A surge bin B-2 acts as a buffer between elevator EL-2 and
Seed Cracker item CR-1. The SOYBEAN is cut into 4 to 6 pieces
in the cracker and cracked seeds are elevated by elevator,
item EL-3 to feed cooker-conditioner item CK-1. Here the cracked
seed is heated by indirect steam for about half an hour and
conditioned to a given percentage of moisture through open
steam. This process give each seed required plasticity. The
cracked seed is fed via screw Conveyor item SC-2, elevator
item EL-4 and Radler conveyor item RL-1 to flakers items Fl-1/Fl-2.
The purpose of flakers is to rupture the cells of the conditioned
seeds by friction between the rolls that turn at slight differential
speed. The flake thickness can be adjusted with the help of
thickness control mechanism.
The SOYBEAN flakes can be conveyed via Radler conveyor RC-2
either directly to extraction plant incoming conveyor, item
EX-1A, or via cooler item FC.
In case of mustard seed, cooked seed is fed to expeller presses
EP1 to EP4 via Radler conveyor RC-2 and expelled cake is discharged
into conveyor Ex 1A
